This here, ladies and gents, is a good ol’ fashioned fanzine! Unsolved Mysteries was one of the most popular American TV shows of the 1990s, a show that all of us have seen at least once or twice. This zine really helps illustrate just how ground-breaking this show was. This was one of the first “true crime” television shows, a phrase that is now its own genre.

This zine tells a history of the show, it talks about specific episodes, it talks about famous actors who got their start on this show doing the reenactments.

The show’s title, “Unsolved Mysteries” could mean almost anything, and it did: horrible crimes, like rape and murder, but also stories about aliens, Bigfoot, and ghosts.

“I don’t know, man. It’s a mystery, ya know? And they never solved it.” But one of the interesting results of the popularity of the show is that Unsolved Mysteries did help solve a lot of mysteries! Lots of bad people were arrested thanks to information that was phoned into this TV show.

Great zine, fun to read. Parts of it are sad and scary, some parts are fun and funny. And all of it is filtered through the author’s personal experience of being a super-fan.
