  • Description

This mini contains two stories of foolhardiness resulting in disaster at the dawn of that ground-breaking technology, aviation.

First, the tale of Franz Reichelt, the tailor who invented a parachute suit and daringly tested it by leaping from the first deck of the Eiffel Tower himself! Then, an account of the daring journey of S. A. Andrée, a Swedish balloonist who attempted to be the first to reach the North Pole in 1897 by flying over it in a hydrogen balloon (spoiler alert: he didn't make it!).
