Our own Sara Renberg is back with the long-awaited second volume of Jicks Zine, the zine that follows the solo career of former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus. It's also (secretly) a serialized coming-out memoir, in all its awkward glory, with Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks playing in the background.

This issue dives into Malkmus' second album, Pig Lib, and its strange prog-like indie psychedelia. Even if you've never heard it, she makes it fun to read about. She also imagines a new version of the album that blends in material from the companion EP, The Dark Wave, and includes the process behind the imagined album (which has a nice indie-rock alternate-dimension quality that I quite enjoy).

Extra special bonus: Michael Heald (of the great Portland small press, Perfect Day Publishing) writes a guest piece about the song "Animal Midnight" and how it affected his 2003 self. It's a joy (within the surrounding joys).
