- Description
HATE follows the foibles of the semi-autobiographical Buddy Bradley. Hate became the voice of the twenty-nothing slackers as well as being hailed by critics for its brilliant characterization in its complete chronicle of the 1990s.
In this issue: After three grisly issues devoted to Buddy and Lisa sinking deeper and deeper into the pit of decadence and loserdom, Peter Bagge brings back one of his most popular supporting characters, Black ultra-nerd George Cecil Hamilton III. Buddy discovers that George, in true nerd fashion, has put out a fanzine, and is devoting most of it to trashing Buddy and his behavior. Seething with righteous indignation, Buddy tries to sabotage the project by buying (or stealing) all available copies, but eventually this proves futile, and so he vows to put out a counter-fanzine devoted to the quirks of George's personality (of which there are many); being Buddy, however, he never quite gets it together, and the story climaxes with a completely unexpected confrontation as Buddy stumbles upon George's surprising new lifestyle.
