- Description
What was Thomas Jefferson referring to when he said "A change in climate is taking place very Sensibly"? How did colonization, Christian institutions, and early capitalism co-create ideologies that still permeate American society? And, what does "climate change" have to do with any of that?
This zine explores many facets of European and American history. Asking deep questions: how is early colonial history relevant to today's discussions of climate? how did colonization and capitalism evolve together? where are the pre-colonial origins of these social practices? how did European joint-stock companies approach indigenous peoples, and how did this interaction evolve up until the present day?
Utilizing scientific research, sermons and historical texts from the 1600s, and reaching into a variety of interrelated fields, the "Deconstructing" zine combines art collage with history to dive deep into challenging material.
