Music We Like (Mostly): Alternative, Indie, Underground
These publications are about music that used to be called "underground," then "progressive", then "alternative rock" then "indie rock" and now it's just called "indie". In most cases, these bands exist in opposition to larger market forces. It's not really a genre so much as a status. But it's also kind of a genre.
