Nate Garcia's work is hard to do justice to in a summary. You can compare it to the comedic triumphs of cartoonists like Peter Bagge or Gilbert Shelton, but that will only get you half the way there. Garcia's work is unique: the imagery in his pages show a compressed and cartoony world that has digested other approaches and emerged as something totally its own, caricatured characters posing solidly on the page in both colorful and (this time around) inky universes that only exist within Garcia publications. Some cartoonists just draw funny, Garcia draws funny and beautifully at once, no easy feat.
